The Zacchaeus Project

 

 

The Zacchaeus Project is based in the Walter Newby Centre at Bethnal Green Methodist Church on Approach Road opposite the Royal London Chest Hospital.

The Zacchaeus Project began in 1997 as a Carers Drop-In, run in partnership with Age Concern. The Project is now a ministry of the Methodist Church in Tower Hamlets (MCTH) that works with carers, former carers and older people offering advice, support and activities to improve the quality of their lives and address gaps in local provision.

Among the services provided by the Zacchaeus Project include:

·         Drop in Advice, Information and Guidance;

·         Café  (Monday & Wednesday) serving low cost hot snacks and refreshments;

·         Weekly snack bar (Tuesday);

·         Library lending service;

·         Health checks;

·         Programme of Complementary Therapy sessions including reflexology;                          

·         Weekly aerobic, line dancing and fitness sessions;

·         Monthly Support Group for Men;

·         Monthly self-help Support Group for people suffering with Arthritis;

·         An award-winning community garden and food cooperative;

·         Weekly short mat bowls exercise group;

·         Awareness raising sessions on topics from weight management to fire safety;

·         Programme of Day Trips and Events;

·         Creative Art Group;

·         Sewing and Knitting Group.
