Vacancy for Deputy Director at the Whitechapel Mission


Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 (depending on experience and qualifications)
Location: 212 Whitechapel Road, London, E1 1BJ
Reports to: Director, Whitechapel Mission

The Whitechapel Mission has been serving the homeless and marginalised in the East End of London for 143 years. We are seeking to appoint a deputy director. The role will include:

Working as part of a team at Whitechapel Mission, Tower Hamlets
Responsibility for finances and administration of the charity
Oversight of the IT used at the Mission
Supporting marketing, fundraising and brand awareness
Deputising for the Director

It is likely that the successful candidate will have experience of charity administration, finance and IT systems. They will have strong organisational and communication skills. The candidate should both be able to work as part of a team and be able to lead.

This is a role for a charity which forms part of the Methodist Church. Candidates need not be members of the Methodist Church.  Terms and conditions will be in line with those recommended by the Methodist Conference.

This is a full time permanent appointment

Visits to the Mission for prospective candidates on 3 and 4 March

Circuit lay pastoral worker

THE Methodist Church in Tower Hamlet requires a circuit lay pastoral worker to have a focus on our Bow Road and Poplar churches. This is a full time permanent appointment.  The role will suit a person with pastoral experience, and will include leading and facilitating the Christian growth of those in their care. The successful candidate will have an interest in different forms of worship and in developing relationships with those in the broader Christian and multi-faith and secular communities.  An accreditation as a local preacher or worship leader is desirable but not essential.
