BAND for LIFE
A musical community in which everyone has a part to play
Band for Life
is based on the belief that music brings people together; regardless of
age, health, background, social situation, gender or ethnicity. The
Project strives to create a culture of welcoming and openness through
meeting and playing and sharing music together, drawing on the
therapeutic effects of music making. We have found that people benefit
from participating in the project regardless of their level of musical
experience or skill. We aim to both understand and support people’s issues whilst focusing on what people can do and achieve.
Band
for Life is facilitated by Sarah Wilson, a registered music therapist.
It is one of a number of projects provided by The Methodist Church in
Tower Hamlets seeking to offer hope and build communities of love within
the borough.
There is a
weekly Band session, on Fridays from 1.45 – 4pm, for anyone over 18
years who wants to join in, listen, or just have a cup of tea and some
company.
When circumstances permit and if our members want to, we perform in public in informal venues and events.
The current age range is 30 – 88yrs. You don’t have to be
musically skilled to join in but equally, if you have a musical talent,
we will welcome you!
The project meets Fridays 1.45 – 4pm at Bow Road Methodist Church,
1 Merchant Street, Bow, London E3 4LY
There is easy, accessible entrance at the front of the Church, facing the main road.
Open to anyone (over 18) but currently fully subscribed. (October '24)
For the comfort of our members, we ask you to check in advance, rather than just drop in to visit, please.
